I am fairly new to keeping Javas’ and have decided that they are going to be around for a while in my aviary. They are quite a comical looking bird as I think their beak looks like it has been stuck on as an after thought; never the less, they are a lovely addition to my flight. I purchased one pair of normals this year and they have produced 9 young (spread over two clutches), two of the young produced are silver birds. This means my adults are normal split for silver.
My Javas are currently housed with various finches and waxbills. My husband is currently building another aviary, so that next year I can move them away from the waxbills and house them with birds that are nearer their own size. They are not aggressive but I think their size is a bit overbearing for the waxbills. I do not know enough about the Javas to be able to advise on the best way to keep these birds therefore I would advise you to take a look at the following site that I have found to be very informative. |
